One of the most popular areas for foreigners to buy condominiums is right on Panama Bay with bay and ocean views: Punta Pacifica, Punta Paitilla and Marbella. Many of the buildings are brand new. In nearby Costa Sur, new homes begin at $140,000. Another popular place is the former American Canal Zone where sturdy, plain military housing is being remodeled into beautiful homes. These areas have more green space, many of which are located right next to the rainforest, with pools and tennis courts. The two most popular are Albrook and Clayton. Casco Viejo, located in the historic Spanish colonial sector, offers the unique opportunity to buy and restore historic buildings and homes with magnificent bay views. The allure of the place is even more enticing since the Panamanian Government offers tax breaks and incentives for any investment in historic property.
